Aluminium Market Outlook 2026: Navigating Price Volatility and Supply Shifts

The global aluminium market continues to navigate a volatile pricing environment in 2026. LME aluminium prices are projected to test USD 3,000 per tonne in the first half of the year before moderating to around USD 2,700–2,800 per tonne as new Indonesian smelting capacity eases supply constraints. Prices have also been influenced by broader macroeconomic factors, including US dollar movements and shifting expectations around interest rates.

Supply-side dynamics remain a key driver. Tight supply conditions in early 2026 stemmed from production caps in China, disruptions at overseas smelters, and concerns over bauxite and alumina flows through the Strait of Hormuz. At the same time, the resumption of trade through the Strait following a US–Iran agreement has raised the prospect of additional supply from the Persian Gulf, a region responsible for a meaningful share of global aluminium output.

For manufacturers and industrial buyers, this environment underscores the importance of working with a trading partner who understands global supply patterns and can navigate short-term volatility. Diversified sourcing and flexible commercial arrangements remain the most effective ways to manage exposure to price swings while maintaining supply continuity.
